The EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) Manager oversees the EDI team, focused on the analysis, design, and development specifications for enhancements and extensions with EDI application interfaces. Reporting to the Customer Service Director, the EDI Manager leads and manages a staff of 2 EDI Analysts who review and implement tasks as necessary to interface with customers. The EDI Manager oversees the creation of initiatives and drives EDI departmental initiatives to ensure project timelines, processes, quality, budgets, scope, and expectations are met.
The EDI Manager is responsible for analyzing various specifications to work in conjunction with reports, interfaces, and mappings provided by data-trading partners. The EDI Manager coordinates and supervises the work of internal teams completing EDI testing, implementations, and modifications of EDI files.
The EDI Manager's primary responsibilities include ensuring that data is analyzed, file feeds are configured, priorities are recognized, and contact with trading partners is established. Key responsibilities to oversee through accomplishment include analyzing the data exchanged with any partners, observing data records to record errors, and correcting any failures.
Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage talent: Identify the skills and performance criteria necessary for the EDI team member success and manage staff to meet and exceed these standards.
  • Establishes departmental goals measured through key performance indicators (KPI's).
  • Evaluates team's performance against the KPI's and intervenes with management direction to assist the EDI team meet and exceed goals.
  • Develop and ensure that the EDI department standards, methods, and process and procedures are followed through. This includes the delivery of programs to meet revenue objectives, budgets, ROI, and client service satisfaction.
  • Revises policies and procedures based upon root cause analysis of issues to prevent recurrence.
  • Responsible for overseeing and leading the integration of any new customer relationship using Electronic Data Interchange and file layouts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers; serve as liaison to bridge gaps between system partners and internal outward-facing staff.
  • Document scope of work in all stages of integration; noting customizations, routing rules, data mapping, etc.
  • Coordinate and test EDI feeds with customers, working within the Customer's SLAs.
  • Define best practices for New Customer setup.
  • Manage daily EDI activities such as transmission verification, compliance assurance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, exception handling and re-processing of necessary IDocs to ensure successful operations
  • Proactively alert and report progress on issues to key business stakeholders.
  • Work effectively under pressure, independently, and within a collaborative team-oriented environment using sound judgment in decision-making
  • Has solid technical understanding of EDI files (fixed length, delimited, XML) and adjudication system requirements
  • Demonstrates proficiency in ensuring seamless integration process on client side
  • Works on assignments that are complex in nature in which judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations
  • Thorough knowledge of company and departmental policies and procedures.
Required Skills and Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of advanced analysis techniques such as Excel (vlookup, pivot tables, Macros)
  • Fully versed in of all EDI Transactions used in a corporate environment, food, FMCG industry a plus
  • Thorough understanding of customer service operations from order intake to returns/deductions management, combined with leadership skills to inspire your team and across the Supply Chain.
  • Minimum 5 years of Supply Chain work experience, with at least 2 of those with a focus on EDI
  • Demonstrated success in implementing KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge of SAP ECC (a plus) and IDOC Processing.
  • Ability to build complex spreadsheets and work with all MS Office applications.
  • Problem solver; "achiever result-oriented.

  • Excellent in a team; very good communicator.

  • Bachelor's Degree in supply chain, logistics, IT or business preferred
