Seeking a product manager to own our on-site search engine. Working with a variety of internal teams and stakeholders, the individual in this role will deliver unique search experiences for our consumer audiences and measure the overall utility and quality of our search product. Our team is currently operating in a hybrid remote/office environment and will likely continue to do so in the coming months.
CLIENT considers the safety of its employees and the community a top priority. As part of this commitment, CLIENT requires all new and existing employees who will be on site or who will engage in any work-related travel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless they obtain prior approval for an accommodation for medical reasons or due to a sincerely held religious belief, or are otherwise exempt from this requirement due to applicable state or local law. Qualified candidates who are offered the opportunity to join CLIENT will be required to comply with this policy and will be asked to provide proof of their vaccination status prior to the first day of work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • As the primary admin for our site search index, develop a routine to tune keywords, implement weighting rules, add synonyms, and enhance search metadata to deliver the highest quality results
  • Define and deliver the best SERP experience for anonymous and non-subscriber audiences to drive membership conversion
  • Optimize the SERP experience for paying digital subscribers and identify ways to encourage repeat visits and convert to other products
  • Generate and present monthly KPI metrics to digital stakeholders
  • Build and prioritize a backlog of SERP features and enhancements in collaboration with our UX and software development teams
  • Establish best practices for our editorial teams to add rich and comprehensive metadata to content assets at every stage of our publishing process
  • Identify opportunities to extend the way we use the search index to power other products or experiences
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 2-3 years equivalent experience working with digital content
  • Excellent at prioritizing multiple tracks of work that span both small, tactical tasks and larger strategic deliverables
  • Can distill and communicate complex information in writing and in person; you're comfortable leading meetings and presenting in groups of any size
  • A strong instinct to problem solve and rely on data to drive decisions
  • Familiarity with MixPanel, Google Analytics, or Tableau is helpful; you should be able to ramp up quickly on these and other user data services
  • You've used some type of project management software before and are excited to use it again: we're currently an Atlassian/Jira team with a heavy reliance on Google Docs and a growing interest in using Wrike
  • You've owned at least one feature development project from inception to launch and can talk critically about the results
  • You've shown that you can lead a cross-functional team and that you can earn trust and respect both up and down in an organization
