Nature and Scope
The I.T. Windows Desktop Engineer is responsible for all aspects (software and hardware) of the organization's server and desktop infrastructure and related systems. This includes the review of desktop and server vulnerabilities, testing and deployment of patches and software for all endpoint devices, and troubleshooting hardware, software, and application installs. This role will have ownership of all monitoring, troubleshooting, and installation of software/patching/tools over multiple operating systems and will plan/coordinate deployments to all endpoints enterprise-wide. The Engineer will be adept at finding the right technology balance to solve problems quickly and efficiently, while creating a maintainable codebase that can evolve as technologies change.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all I.T. JSOX policies in performing day to day activities.

  • Periodically train on the I.T. department's policies and remain in compliance with JSOX.

  • Manage, support, and administer I.T. JSOX monitoring and reporting tools.

  • Administer Active Directory and ADSI Edit including cross-functional forests and trusts.

  • Conduct direct research into IT issues and products.

  • Proactively identify trends, determine incident root causes, and manage adverse events from identification to resolution.

  • Provide application support for Microsoft Office and browser based applications.

  • Handle service calls for hardware and software issues.

  • Create and manage user profiles for the company network.

  • Maintain password renewals and changes for BPCS, AS/400, and the company network.

  • Manage, support, administer, and coordinate the scheduling for timely patching of internal/external systems, including Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft Office products and third party applications.

  • Manage, support, and administer the Enterprise Mobile Device Management infrastructure including but not limited to the MobileIron MDM Server and company issued handheld devices.

  • Support existing Cisco AnyConnect VPN and firewall integration.

  • Maintain procedures and documentation specific to server and desktop standards and provisioning.

  • Act as project manager for the implementation of new servers, rolling out desktops, replacement of obsolescent equipment, upgrades, migrations, and server farm builds.

  • Collaborate on project related system specifications with business units during evaluation phase of projects.

  • Remotely manage and maintain infrastructures at multiple data centers.

  • Monitor, administer, and manage overall system infrastructure health.

Education Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field a plus

  • Minimum of five years' experience with desktop and server support.

  • MCSE certification, a plus.

  • Experience with Microsoft ADFS server infrastructure, Microsoft Office 365 and Azure, SCCM server, Windows 7, Windows 10, Exchange Online, 2010, 2013 and 2016, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and 2012, Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2, 2016, 2019, Microsoft SharePoint Server and IIS. TCP/IP, including routers, network switches, LAN/WAN protocols, such as DNS, DHCP, SFTP, SSL, and VPN. Working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange/Outlook e-mail system, Windows Operating Systems, and Microsoft Office Products.

  • Knowledge of server virtualization, specifically VMware Enterprise Plus, preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft PowerShell scripting or other applicable scripting technologies, preferred
