The Enterprise IT Architect's primary role is to assist in the IT division's transformation into a service-oriented organization, with the business as the primary customer base. This is performed carrying out the activities listed below

  • Position IT as a key enabler of Digital Business Implementation. As company prepares to undergo substantial technical and process-related changes, it is critical that candidates can present experience in digital transformation exercises. Optimal candidates will have exposure to and be able to participate in the following areas:
    1. Experience in creating and managing professional services engagements to facilitate transformation. The path to an organizational shift of significant magnitude will require assistance from outside parties. Ensuring that these parties have the best guidelines to maximize their contribution to the transformation process is a critical measure. Experience in creating SOWs and reviewing MSAs with these topics in mind is essential.
    2. Experience in the initial stages of a Digital Business Implementation. Efforts of this size require a substantial amount of planning and coordination to successfully establish, ensuring that follow-on activities are started with the greatest chance for success. The ability to guide individuals and groups through these initial steps is a requirement.
  • Enhance IT as a business service provider. To facilitate the requirements of the business and determine an applicable implementation within the existing infrastructure, support and development frameworks. This includes the following high-level tasks
    1. Determination of business requirements in the short (12 months) medium (36 months) and long (60 months) terms and how they relate to the IT operations and future planning.
    2. Listens closely to the business to determine their primary areas of concern, and suggests ways that that IT division may work to facilitate their particular needs.
    3. Significant contributions to the planning and scoping of IT goals overall.
    4. Functions in coordination with the IT division as a forward-facing entity to the business, with the ability to define and explain the implications of various technology approaches.
  • Champion and promote EA Governance
    1. Design, implement, execute EA governance best practices and ensure compliance
    2. Provide architectural consultation across the organization
    3. Develop proof-of-concept prototypes and initial implementation models
    4. Coach and mentor Junior IT architects
  • Work with resource managers, project managers, and all IT teams in providing oversight, evaluation of proposed change requests / projects ensuring alignment with overall IT roadmap.
  • Work with IT management to improve the processes and implementation of best practices.
  • Work as part of a team and provide 24x7 support when required.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

  • This position has limited supervisory functions.

  • As illustrated above, this position is focused intensively around Digital Business Transformation and experiences in this area. A key aspect of this transformation focus will be in the Digital Business Optimization space, and helping the organization prepare for this upcoming shift in people, process and technology.
  • Ability to advise and implement recommended enterprise architecture strategies, processes and methodologies.
  • Ability to participate and lead assignments for evaluation and development of enterprise long-term strategic/operating plans to ensure that EA objectives and IT approaches are consistent with long-term business objectives.
  • Prior experience as a contributor to the development of technology roadmaps in support of IT's vision and strategy
  • Ability to materially participate in the development of architecture blueprints for related systems.
  • ERP deployment and development experience
    1. Experience with ERP in a wholesale/retail environment is a plus.
    2. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX a plus
  • Experience in integrating multiple disparate systems which are custom-developed.
  • Experience using Progress OpenEdge platform a plus
  • Development experience and knowledge a plus.
  • Systems Infrastructure knowledges a plus.
  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments
  • Good understanding of strategic and new and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models
  • Understanding of agile methods and processes, and capability of supporting agile project teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact and risks, taking account of technical and architectural debt
  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills.
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior team members

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience
  • Material experience in a Digital Transformation exercise in an organization of greater than 150 employees
  • Minimum of five years of experience as an Enterprise Architect and eight plus years in at least two IT solution development disciplines, including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or operations
