Actively looking to hire a Systems Administrator in the Winston-Salem, NC area.

The Systems Administrator provides support, maintains, and configures information systems on the network/server infrastructure including both on-premise and cloud networks and systems. The job includes basic and advanced administration of server systems, user account creation, changes, and password maintenance. The person in the role monitors, maintains, upgrades, patches, and performance tunes equipment in the network/server infrastructure. They will also be expected to cross train and mentor Help Desk associates and other IT employees on the systems they support.

Major Responsibilities/Activities
  • Administration of Windows Active Directory, Citrix and VMware
  • Administration of SANs (Storage Area Network) including
  • Responsible for local and remote backup and restore of all systems except for databases
  • Experience troubleshooting and configuring enterprise network hardware
  • Provide diagnosis and resolution of system (hardware and software) problems.
  • Provision new virtual machines using approved server templates
  • Provision and deploy new hardware and technologies within the environment.
  • Support enterprise and call center phone systems.
  • Perform evaluation of new technologies and provide vendor recommendations.
  • Liaise with and provide training and support to help desk, network team, database team, cloud team, application team and other campus departments on network issues (i.e. VPN connectivity)
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers and contractors for product evaluations, technical implementation planning, and procuring system-specific products and services.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and make recommendations to the CIO and other members of the IT team.
  • Ensure all platforms, systems, applications follow the security requirements described in IT policies
  • Conduct all job tasks, duties, and interactions with professionalism, respect, a positive attitude, and in accordance with company policies and applicable government regulations
  • Consistently support and demonstrate the company mission and values
Other Responsibilities/Activities
  • Provide 24 7 emergency on-call services on a rotating basis.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Maintains knowledge of current industry best practices; disseminate and apply information as needed.
  • Identifies and communicates ideas for improved efficiency and performance.
  • Provides backup support for the IT team members as directed.
  • Completes and/or participates in special projects.
  • Participates in company-sponsored events, committees, meetings, etc.

Required Education, Skills, & Experience
  • BS degree in Computer Science or Engineering field, or equivalent practical experience
  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience working with Microsoft Windows Active Directory, Server, Office 365
  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience working with Citrix and VMware vSphere/ESX
  • A minimum of 2+ year of experience working with Linux and AWS basic administration
  • Strong problem solving & analytical skills
  • Willing and able to adapt to changes in work environment, procedures, priorities, and job duties
  • Excellent customer service skills with appropriate sense of urgency and sensitivity to business needs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to function well within a cross-functional team setting and independently
  • Ability to extend work hours to meet business needs
Preferred Education, Skills, & Experience
  • Microsoft Windows certifications (MCSA, MCSE)
  • AWS certifications (AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, AWS Certified Advanced Networking)
  • Powershell, Python
  • Cisco, Fortinet
  • Hands on experience with MS SQL and mySQL databases
  • Prior experience working in HIPAA and PCI DSS compliance environments
