Overview
Seeking a Lead Engineer-DevOps. The purpose of this role is to help drive the forward direction of our DevOps team within Enterprise Application Services organization. This role encompasses continuous improvement to existing features and rollout of new services from development to production. The Lead Engineer will work closely with application, database, and infrastructure teams to manage various application stacks on AIX/LINUX, and the IBM PowerSeries platforms. In addition, s/he will play a key role in design, active member of the architect review board, performance tuning, communication, monitoring, high availability, scaling, failover and disaster recovery planning and annual testing.
Responsibilities
The Lead Engineer-DevOps will configure, integrate, and support heterogeneous distributed application environments for external and internal applications within Company. S/he will provide application deployment support to various application development teams, automate application deployments, manage and maintain scripting source code repository, and provide performance improvement support to application teams. Lastly, this position will design and configure highly available application environments to support global business needs
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and/or 6+ years experience with hands on experience supporting heterogeneous distributed web applications, in a large, complex and evolving environment
  • Highly competent in programming and scripting (.NET, ruby, java, bash, perl, python, c)
  • Solid understanding of Cloud and virtualized environments (AWS/EC2, Docker)
  • Expert level knowledge of AIX/LINUX OSX configuration and administration
  • Experience working with programmatic Systems Automations frameworks (Chef, Puppet)
  • Must have experience in web server configuration and TLS/SSL managements, e.g. IIS, Apache, Tomcat, NGINX
  • Expert level understanding of networking and web protocols (HTTP(S), SMTP, DNS, SSH), should be able to identify CPU, memory & I/O bottlenecks, solve read & write-heavy workloads
  • Ability to manage and support the application infrastructure for public-facing website as well as the internal systems
  • Experience with IBM's STERLING Infrastructure
  • Ability to perform Performance Testing and Analysis, Measurement and Monitoring, with a Research oriented problem solving approach preferred
  • Familiar with caching strategies and techniques (CDN, memcached/redis, disk, in-process), and understand the complexities of invalidation and denormalization preferred
  • Ability to design and build high availability (HA) systems and services to support global business with minimal downtime preferred
  • Experience in setting up Continuous Deployment / Integration / Delivery throughout the software engineering lifecycle preferred
