This year is drawing to a close (cue the collective sigh of relief) and next year will be here before you know it. Now’s the time to start thinking about your business goals for the year ahead. Here are some New Year’s resolution ideas for your business to adopt.

Network

One of the best things you can do for your business (especially if it’s a small business) is meet others in the business community or in your industry. As you work to build those business relationships, you’ll open the door for new work and opportunities all year long. Plus, networking events often include a learning element that could help you revamp your business strategy.

Promote

It’s always a good idea to rethink your marketing strategy at the beginning of a new year. How are you going to promote your business this year? Maybe you want to hire a marketing specialist or consultant, try out a new marketing tactic (social media or Internet ads, for example), or even just perfect your elevator pitch.

Delegate

Delegating is hard for many business owners. After all, your business’s success is too important to leave up to someone else, right? The problem is that as much as you’d like to, you don’t have infinite capacity and energy. If you’ve struggled with delegating in the past, maybe this is the year you should commit to delegating whenever possible. What tasks are you currently doing yourself that could be handled by someone else?

Plan

Sometimes, we get so caught up in the day-to-day hustle of business that we forget to step back and create an actionable plan. The start of a new year is the perfect time to devote some time to planning. At the very least, create a high-level plan for the year, along with a more specific plan for the first month or quarter of the year. Having a plan is going to help you move forward decisively and confidently.

Learn

There’s always more to learn! If you feel like your business is getting a little stagnant, it might be time to recommit to training and learning. What new skills could your team learn that could serve your business? What leadership skills could you develop that might help you grow your business and lead your team? Attending events, reading books, or hiring consultants are all great ways to educate yourself and up your commitment to learning in the new year.

Grow

Time to grow your team? Then resolve to make it happen! Recruiting and hiring can seem daunting, but it’s a great way to reinvigorate your team and increase your efficiency. If you need help growing your team in the new year, don’t be afraid to reach out to a staffing agency. As staffing experts, they can help you fill temporary, part-time, or full-time positions that will fill in any gaps in your team.

We hope that the new year has incredible things in store for you and your business. Happy New Year!
